Notes for Student + Indie Projects
Some preferences and expectations:
- For independent projects I require payment at the conclusion of the shoot. For longer projects I may require a deposit to secure multiple dates. Delayed payment is acceptable if I'm invoicing through a University or College payroll system.
- I expect the Production/filmmaker to supply me with high resolution footage from the film as a digital file (transfer or download), which I can potentially use in a future demo reel. This can be in the form of m.o.s. rushes (mailed on a thumb drive, or available for download, within one year) or the completed film (delivered within two years from the wrap date). This stipulation is highly flexible, just let me know your situation if there's an issue with post-production delays or clearances.
Pre-production coordination
- I include a pre-shoot meeting (which may also include a location or camera inspection) as part of the service for low budget + student productions.
- If you are a director or DP with limited experience working with a Steadicam operator it may be best to have a face-to-face pre-production meeting, as this best facilitates a discussion of choreographing camera movements and allows us to hone in on technical and aesthetic nuances that can be missed in phone or e-mail communications.
